Jonny Raine – Hymn Writer!

I had my debut as a hymn writer just over a week ago. I was preaching in the church I’m a member of, Malpas Road Evangelical Church, on the subject of “The Way of the Cross” from Mark 8:31-37. The focus was on giving up our lives and dying to ourselves to follow Christ. Interestingly, about half the time was spent solidly on application looking at different circumstances to apply the principle to. Then to close, I decided that rather than choose a song that perhaps only half fitted the theme and perhaps distracted form it, I decided to write my own!
