Videos with PB

I’ve begun posting some video interviews on The proGnosis I conducted with Peter Baker back in February. Peter is one of the ministers of Highfields Church in Cardiff. One video will be going up every day this week (including the weekend) so look out for them. I apologise for any jitters in the sound—if anyone would like to buy me a new computer it’d solve that problem!

Here’s one video that won’t be going up on The proGnosis. Peter’s answer to this question was the one that stuck most in my memory. I asked Peter, How have you changed theologically through your years in ministry?

What is Church?

If you look up “cool” in Xzibit’s (Presenter of Pimp My Ride and well known Hip-Hop superstar) thesaurus, one word he would have as a synonym is “church”. So when he sees a cool car he says, “That’s church” generally with an appropriate hand gesture. So what is church?

I’m planning a extensive series on The proGnosis that defines church. But I’ve never read anyone elses treatise on ecclesiology (the study of the church) so I don’t know what to include. And so before I post on proGnosis (probably in the new year) I thought I’d open things up and ask you, what topics need to be covered in an ecclesiology, in a series that looks at “what is church”? Answers in the comments box please!

We’ve been heading towards a decision over the last few days, a decision that I think most of us have been feeling for the last few weeks. We’ve decided that for various reasons, it’s time to call The proGnosis a day and end the blog…well, not quite yet anyway! Our situations have changed vastly since we began in [...]
